Performance Index
The performance Index is a mathematical measure of the long term possibility of success of the tipster. It takes into consideration how successful a tipster has been, for how long they have been able to keep up their good record and also how variable their betting history is. The greater the profit, and the more bets you make, and the less the variability, the greater the performance index will be.
For example, a person who has made 40 tips and gained 10% return on investment (ROI), will normally have a higher performance index than a person who has made 20 tips and gained 10% ROI. Some tipsters might have massive swings week to week. The performance index rewards tipsters who are more consistent week to week with good tips.
One has to make at least 20 tips to get a performance index different from zero. A tipster who has a positive performance index means that they have made a profit, whilst a tipster with a negative performance index signifies a loss. The greater the index the better the tipster they are.
For the statistically minded, the performance index works out the "t" value, which is a value that works out the probability of a tipster has tipped well because they are a good tipster, or perhaps it was merely just due to chance. It looks at the tipsters records based on their average profit and standard deviation and works out a value based on the "t distribution". Generally if someone has a performance index of at least 1 to 2, then they have proven that they are a successful long term profitable tipster.
